Myasthenia gravis associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathy: report of a case

We report the case of a 24 year old woman who developed myasthenia gravis in the course of a mild form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathy. We describe the clinical manifestations together with the neurophysiological, pathological, serological findings and response to therapy and discuss the unusual association in the light of the relevant literature. © 1992 Masson Italia Periodici S.r.l.

Dynamics of mild strombolian activity on Mt. Etna

Abstract Here we report the first measurements of gas masses released during a rare period of strombolian activity at the Bocca Nuova crater, Mt. Etna, Sicily. UV camera data acquired for 195 events over an ≈ 27 minute period (27th July 2012) indicate erupted SO2 masses ranging from ≈ 0.1 to ≈ 14 kg per event, with corresponding total gas masses of ≈ 0.1 to 74 kg. Thus, the activity was characterised by more frequent and smaller events than typically associated with strombolian activity on volcanoes such as Stromboli. Degree of severity of molar incisor hypomineralization and its relation to dental caries

AbstractMolar incisor hypomineralization is a developmental defect of dental enamel associated with rapid caries progression. In order to discover whether molar incisor hypomineralization predisposes to dental caries, a cross-sectional cohort study was conducted in a sample of 414 children aged between eight and nine years. It was found that 24.2% of the children presented molar incisor hypomineralization. Of these, 72% had a mild form and 28% a severe form. Caries prevalence was greater among the children with severe form (60.7%) than in those with mild form (43.1%) or no molar incisor hypomineralization (45.5%). Oral, facial, digital, vertebral anomalies with psychomotor delay: a mild form of OFD type Gabrielli?

A girl with oral, facial, and digital anomalies presented at birth with a large cleft palate filled by a nasopharyngeal mass and was found later to have several vertebral anomalies and mental retardation. A similar phenotype has been previously reported in a sporadic male patient [Gabrielli et al., 1994: Am J Med Genet 53:290-293], suggesting a new variant form of oral-facial-digital syndrome.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterised by an extreme heterogeneity and at least four main phenotypes may be distinguished. In referred population, anovulatory hyperandrogenic phenotype (classic PCOS or phenotypes A and B) is by far the most common phenotype and presents the most severe endocrine and metabolic alterations.
